Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about cold Roll Forming

What’s the roll forming?

Roll forming is a metal forming process used to create shapes of uniform cross section. In this process, metal in sheet, strip, or coiled form is fed between successive pairs of rolls that progressively bend and form it until the desired shape and cross section is obtained. The roll forming process adds strength and rigidity to lightweight materials (such as aluminium brass, copper and zinc), composites, some heavier ferrous metals, and specialized alloys and other exotic metals.
Many types of metals are suitable for the roll forming process. These include composites, ferrous metals such as those mostly made of magnetic metals like iron and steel and metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, lead, zinc and tin. Plated along with non-plated surfaces can also be shaped using a roll forming machine.
During roll forming, the forming machine can achieve a desired pattern can be achieved by pressing a metal blank with dies into a certain shapes. The stamping process uses mechanical or hydraulic powered presses. These presses are then fed successive strips of metal or single blanks. The strips are positioned in the press and shaped by the tooling. This causes the powerful stamping action that makes the pattern on the metal.
